HIV and Ageing booklets for patients and HIV-treating
doctors and specialists

Care for and diagnosis of the ageing patient is now a high priority. This project will develop two companion booklets: one for older patients; the other for their HIV physicians and specialists caring for secondary age-related medical problems. Distribute through HIV i-Base to clinicians and patients.

HIV in South East Europe II: Working together for progress
Istanbul, Turkey 6 - 8 May 2009

"South East Europe needs more positive Attention."

At this three day meeting delegations from each country/entity in the region – comprising patient advocates, nurses, doctors, government HIV commissioners and other key stakeholders – will join international HIV specialists and pharmaceutical and diagnostic industry representatives in forums to improve drug and diagnostic supply, support research, overcome stigma, promote treatment literacy for all and encourage the necessary structural changes to ensure successful responses to HIV in the region.

The HIVTRI Science and Innovation Lectures 2009

Following HIVTRI’s successful 2008 Lecture series, now available in print at www.hivtri.com, we will present four world-renowned experts to discuss future developments in research and therapy for HIV and viral hepatitis. A monograph from the lectures will be available for use as medical education.

This meeting will focus on training nurses in their increasing role within the HIV care environment.

Optimising HIV monitoring technologies II

The requirement for well trained laboratory technicians for both research and clinical support was highlighted in our first training event in Skopje, Autumn 2008. This more hands-on workshop will build on the success of the first meeting to help the region to provide quality monitoring technologies for HIV and viral hepatitis.

HIV diagnostics as clinical tools
Porto, Portugal October 2009

This will consist of an update and training for physicians in the ever-changing area of HIV diagnostics encompassing new technologies and their interpretation.

This will be a fundraising and awareness event for HIVTRI featuring the premier of this art installation by AES+F, first shown at the 2007 Venice Biennale, in the setting of an orchestral performance of Russian music and film by Midsummer Opera.

Already available online in an early version at www.hivtrislide.com, this free, independent online slide selection library enables users to create individualized presentations from a wide range of HIV and associated infection topics to learn from or teach about HIV-related subjects.

HIVTRI Talk

In collaboration with Nucleus Holdings (London, UK) to launch January 2009, this web-based interactive network will enhance relations amongst HIVTRI allies, especially in South East Europe, and international experts to maintain ties, record successes, identify obstacles, ask questions, provide information and discuss future projects and upcoming events

EACS Translations

Continuing our interaction with the European AIDS Clinical Society to develop translations of the EACS treatment guidelines in local languages to facilitate quality care and access across all of Europe and areas where there local therapeutic guidelines are lacking.Translate EACS 2007 guidelines into Portuguese, Hebrew and Arabic. Update Albanian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Greek, Italian, Macedonian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Serbian and Turkish versions to EACS 2007 v.4, update all 16 translations to EACS v. 2009 after the EACS conference in October, 2009.
